before the walkman
and i didn't have any headphones..
well i'm not sure why.. but i didn't
but i just got my first job, it was at a nursing home. i worked in the kitchen doing the dishes
oooh how much fun!! you wouldn't think so but my best friend in the world already were employed there. soo it was the morning shift during the summer than i took afternoons 4-11 while i was going to school. i didn't and wasn't allowed to drive until i was 18. nor was i able to drive the family car.. never<< any ways.. i have to remember to talk about the fine men that we worked with and the food fights and my father to busy at the vfw to come and get me to bring me to work.. so that is where i will start.. this is before the walkman. i got the job and had to get to work and i liked my job because my friends worked there. i didn't have a car or a licence.. and i had to get to work, so i rode my bike the 5 miles it took to get there.. it was a pretty even ride, but i needed some music... i have a small tape player. remember those?? the tape player not the tapes.. so i put the tape player in my backpack and i rode my bike to work.. it sucked on the hot days, but i had my tunes. of course this meant i had to pick something really really good to make it the whole ride there. i picked either the doors or the who!! and later i would pick grateful dead, because i was greatly influenced by jeff. he was an almost albino really cute dead head dude that worked with us. us being my 2 best friends. we had some great times. we had a tuna salad sandwich fight one day.. and the cook was throwing mashed potatoes. we filled up the rubber gloves with water or puree of some type and play cow bowling. thats what the filled rubber glove looks like when it is filled with mashed potatoes.. a cow on it's side sliding across the food splattered water soaked kitchen tile. then we would food ski also. from one side of the kitchen to the other.
soooo. as you can see i was completely deprived. and until i got my 1979 renault lecar. i had to ride my white huffy racing bike with a backpack on my back with a tape player pLaying "BREAK ON THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE, BREAK ON THROUGH TO THE THE OTHER SIDE, YEAAH"
and at the time i was desperately in love with my best friends brother who was 32. and the guys at work.. i need to discuss. well then, brian was loved by all of us, but he wanted heather, and patty was dating brian. heather was dating steven, and i was seeing jeff. well steven was in love with michael.. this we didn't find out til 5 years later and i was in love with heather's brother. then patty fell in love with matt and then heather could start seeing brian.. and then brian didn't want to hang out with high school kids any more. so we moved on.
then i had a blind date who pretended to be blind and we went to see johnny winter at the college and then we went to the cemetary, becasue it was a double date.. blind for me.. but my other friend paula who's boyfriend was super cute drove a hearse!! so that is kinda why we went to the cemetary.. it was way before goth>> and we just thought we were cool. so we are what you would call making out.. in the parking lot of this old cemetary.. when a beam of light is flashed into the back window.. yup.. where i was. where dead bodies had been at one time or another,, the little curtains on the sides couldn't block out the light of a policeman's flashlight!!! eh-hem. ooops. i put my shirt on.. my friend paula and i sat in the back seat of a cruiser for 30 minutes while the officer makes sure we are not runaways and that we were consenting the activities we were involved in.. i wasn't having sex! i didn't have my licence, i didn't have a car.. i wasn't having sex. i was a late bloomer.
remember when..when we didn't have a walkman,or p.c's, or le Car's or sex
